A Harrisburg woman is facing charges after bilking a health care facility out of $13,000 for work she never performed. Melissa Fay Howard, 46, worked for a South Middleton Township company, Med Staffers, that placed health care workers with patients for in-home care.
Howard falsely told Med Staffers she was taking care of a patient from Sept. 2012 to Feb. 2013.
Howard’s patient was admitted to a Philadelphia hospital on Sept. 14, 2012 and remains hospitalized. State police say Howard continued to turn in time sheets showing she was taking care of the patient.
She is charged with theft by deception.
