Ash Wednesday

Christians in the Harrisburg area observing Ash Wednesday at Saint Patrick Cathedral.  They receive ashes made from blessed palms used in last year’s Palm Sunday mass.  The day marks the beginning of Lent where Christians abstain from meat on Fridays.  The Lenten fast will come to an end on Holy Saturday which is March 30th.
