A bus carrying 40 students of Friendship Elementary School caught fire around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Route 516 in Codorus Township. Witnesses helped the bus driver safely remove all 40 kids from the burning bus.
The cause of the fire is being described as a mechanical failure and the Southern School District bus is a total loss. All the students have been taken to the school where they will be evaluated by the nurse as a precaution.
