At first, the homeowner Laura Benson thought her son was in some sort of trouble, and then she heard the agents say they had a report of a possible meth lab on their property, and they wanted to investigate.
So the Bensons gladly showed the officers what they were really making, maple syrup.
And now they want to thank their neighbors for being diligent about reporting something they thought was suspicious.
Benson said,”I just kind of wanted to put their minds at ease and let them know it’s maple syrup and they’re all welcome for pancakes if they want to come.”
The Bensons say they have been making syrup for five years, but this is the first time it has been mistaken for a meth lab.
They even gave the drug agents a sample to take home and enjoy.
