Cold northwest winds continue this evening creating wind chills in the single digits to teens. Clouds will gradually clear this evening and temperatures will drop from the upper 20s to the low 20s into the evening. Bundle up because it will be brisk and require many layers to keep warm as you head outside.
Tomorrow there will be more sunshine but the winds will still be quite breezy out of the north-northwest, which will continue to pull in colder air keeping our temperatures well below average. Highs will range from the low 30s to the mid 30s under mostly sunny skies.
WINTRY MIX RETURNS
We end the week with yet another system which could bring a mix of snow, sleet and rain to the area Friday afternoon. The main low will move through the Great Lakes but as it weakens, a surface low develops along the coast. Temperatures look to warm above freezing to aid in changing over the precipition from snow and sleet to all rain. Highs will run in the mid to upper 30s.
WEEKEND STARTS BLAH
A wintry mix may start off our Saturday but milder air will help to warm temperatures enough to change things over to rain. Highs are expected to reach the low 40s. Once they start to cool off in the evening, we could see the rain change back briefly to snow.
Ridge of high pressure starts to build in Sunday in the upper levels and at the surface providing a decent day for the second half of the weekend. Highs will get up into the low to mid 40s.
EARLY NEXT WEEK
It will be a mild Monday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s. The pattern is pretty active with the next system quickly coming in Tuesday. With mild air in place, it should fall as mainly rain but wouldn’t be surprised if it briefly started out as a mix before the change over to plain rain.
