A man who ran from police during a routine traffic stop in Dauphin County on Saturday morning is facing charges. It happened around 10:30 a.m. when a Swatara Township police office spotted a vehicle with a suspended registration plate along the 2200 block of Sycamore Street in Harrisburg. The driver, identified as Donald L. Barbour II, 25, of Harrisburg, fled on foot toward the Capital Area  Greenbelt after an officer approached his vehicle during the traffic stop. The officer gave chase and apprehended Barbour in a wooded area behind the McDonald’s along Paxton Street.

Police recovered a gun which was reported stolen to state police in Chambersburg in November 2012.

Barbour is facing numerous charges including receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension and carrying a firearm without a license. He was taken to Dauphin County Prison.

Police say Barbour has an extensive criminal history including drug offenses and crimes of violence.
