Police in Harrisburg were called to the Hale Avenue side of John Harris High School on Monday afternoon for a reported shooting. Just before 3 p.m., officers were told that three young men, possibly former students at the school, were asked to leave the school property.

While leaving, one of the men pointed out a car on Hale Avenue and yelled, “there they go.” The men opened fire while running towards the vehicle. The driver of the car backed into another car and sped off. The three suspects continued to shoot at the car as it drove away.

Police located that car a short time later on the 1100 block of Market Street. A witness told police four black males ran from the vehicle. The car had been reported stolen on Sunday.

No one was injured during the shooting or chase. The identity of the three suspects are being established and police encourage them to surrender.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Joseph Zimmerman at 717-255-3180 or Corporal Todd Abromitis at 717-255-3115.
