Charges filed against driver who crashed into river

Charges have been filed against the man responsible for crashing a stolen vehicle into the Susquehanna River  following a police pursuit in York County.

Raymond Kallenberger, 23, of Edgewood Maryland, is facing numerous charges including aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and DUI. It all began around 10:15 a.m. when police spotted Kallenberger driving erratically along Mt. Zion Road and Concord Road in Springettsbury Township. Kallenberger fled onto Interstate 83 after officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. He continued to flee from police after exiting I-83 at the Strinestown Exit and headed north on the Susquehanna Trail.

The chase ended when Kallenberger crashed into the Susquehanna River in Goldsboro. Police apprehended Kallenberger when he swam ashore.

Authorities say the minivan that Kallenberger was driving was reported stolen out of Bel Air Maryland around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

No one was injured in the pursuit.

Kallenberger was taken to central booking to be arraigned on the charges.
