After a lot of hype, the winter storm that has been churning across the United States has finally arrived. The snow started falling in Chambersburg around 1 a.m. and it is starting to pile up in some of the colder, lower spots along Route 30. Franklin and Adams County will probably be the hardest hit, with meterologists are calling for 6 to 8 inches of the white stuff.
The roads as of 4 a.m. are in good shape. There are some spots between Gettysburg and Chambersburg along Route 30 around Caledonia State Park where the snow is laying heavy on the roads. In the boro of Chambersburg, the warmer road temperatures are causing the snow to melt on contact.
We are already seeing school delays and cancelations along with snow emergencies in certain areas.
