Another candidate is throwing his hat into the ring in the race for Harrisburg mayor.

Nevin Mindlin made the formal announcement Sunday morning at Wesley Union AME Union Church.

Mindlin, who is running as an Independent candidate, is banking on his 35 years of experience in public policy and governmental affairs to set him apart from the competition.

“I want to bring city government back to its vital and necessary services and to do them very well, and to help the community re-engage and take on some of the responsibilities that need to be done for the community because it can’t all be done by government,” he said.

Mindlin faces stiff competition in the race for mayor. Other candidates include Mayor Linda Thompson, City Controller Dan Miller, Midtown Scholar Bookstore owner Eric Papenfuse, and city resident Lewis Butts, Jr.
