A veterinary hospital in Cumberland County has set up a fund to help low-income pet owners pay for emergency medical treatment.
Animal Emergency Medical Center in Mechanicsburg treated Zeke, the Harrisburg police K-9, who was shot in the neck on Friday.
The 2 ½-year-old Belgian Malinois underwent two hours of surgery on Saturday and is expected to go home later today, according to the clinic’s Facebook page.
All of Zeke’s costs have been covered, but the veterinary clinic wanted to create a fund for pet owners who need financial assistance for life saving emergency services.
The “Animal Emergency Fund” will help animals get the medical treatment they need and return home to their families who love them.
