Water Street Mission is teaming up with local churches to get ready for their annual Easter Box Distribution on Friday.

Thanks to donations from the community, hundreds of families will get a ham and other groceries to make an Easter meal. The outreach is helping more than 300 families each year in Lancaster.

“Our goal was 500 hams and we actually exceeded that goal by several hundred, ” says Water Street Mission director of communications Maria Schaszerger, “so that means that not only our Easter needs; but every day we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Water Mission. The meat is always a real need so that ham will really make a difference in the weeks to come.”

The Easter boxes will be distributed on Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mission’s Outreach building.
