Authorities check up on sex offenders living in Harrisburg

U. S. Marshals and the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday the results of Operation Safety Net, an effort to check the home addresses of 259 convicted sex offenders in Harrisburg. A total of 13 of the offenders remain under investigation for possible Megan’s Law violations.

“I thank the U. S. Marshals Service for leading this important initiative to keep our children and communities safe and to ensure that Megan’s Law offenders are complying with all requirements of the law,” Dauphin County District Attorney Marsico said.

U.S. Marshals and police are currently looking for three men who are in violation of Megan’s Laws:

Donald L. Buie – a 46-year old man last believed to reside in the 1500 block of Walnut Street in Harrisburg.  He is described as 5’07”, weighing 150 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.  He is wanted by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police for Megan’s Law violations, and by the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office for violations of probation.  Anyone with information about Buie is asked to call Dauphin County Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.

Michael V. Franklin a 45-year old man believed to be transient in and around Harrisburg.  He is described as 5’09”, weighing 180 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.  He is wanted by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police for Megan’s Law violations and Criminal Trespass.  Anyone with information about Franklin is asked to call Dauphin County Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.

Kevin Sterling Walker – a 36-year old man last believed to reside on Cameron Street in Harrisburg.  He is described as 5’10”, weighing 200 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.  He is wanted by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police for Megan’s Law violations, and by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole for parole violations (original offense: Rape).  Anyone with information about Walker is asked to call Dauphin County Crime Stoppers at (800) 262-3080.

 

There are more than 700,000  registered sex offenders living in the United States and as many as 100,000 are missing or non-compliant, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
