Lancaster County man arrested for breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home

A Lancaster County man was arrested just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning after breaking and entering his ex-girlfriend’s home. New Holland Police responded to Runaway Avenue in Earl Township on reports that a man had entered a home on the street.

The homeowner told police he fought with the suspect after he forced his way into the house, which caused the him to flee the scene. After searching the neighborhood, officers found 31-year old Jeremiah Harnish, of Narvon, hiding in the bushes a few houses away.

Police discovered Harnish had climbed onto the roof of the home and forced his way in an open window. His ex-girlfriend called for her step-father and the two got into a fight with each other.

Harnish is facing several charges including, Criminal Trespass, Simple Assault and Loitering and Prowling at Night.
