WET COMMUTE: A potent cold front is working to bring us rain and the return of April air to the Commonwealth today. Expect the early morning rain to be heavy at times, with ponding on roadways and localized flooding where the downpours persist. Some rumbles of thunder will mix in too. You’ll need the high setting on the wipers for the morning drive. Rain will continue through early afternoon, before abruptly tapering form west to east. A few lingering showers may persist into the afternoon. We’re in the 50s most of the day, but temps should top out in the low 60s by late afternoon.
WEEKEND: Cooler air begins to settle in for Saturday morning. A pocket of colder air aloft is in place for Saturday, so we expect some clouds to form during the day. Highs will top out in the upper 50s to near 60 with a westerly breeze. It’s chilly Saturday night as temps fall into the upper 30s. Sunday will be a bit less breezy and will feature more sun. Highs top out near 60°. Enjoy the April air!
WARMING AGAIN: The warming is back in action by Monday as a pocket of milder air shoves itself north again. We’ll see some clouds and sun with highs into the upper 60s. Tuesday and Wednesday are even warmer, with highs in the low to middle 70s. A storm system pulls away to our north but it may clip us with a few showers or storms on Tuesday and Wednesday.
For Thursday, our next strong cold front is setting up shop in the Mid-west. Timing and location on this thing are yet to be nailed down, but we have an increased shot at some storms Thursday with best chances Friday as the front rolls through. We’ll monitor it for you.
