Hundreds walk to benefit Autism York

A York County school was filled with children on Saturday, but class was not in session, instead the kids were at Central York High School for the 9th Annual Autism York Expo.
The event was like a playground for children diagnosed with Autism, there were all sorts of activities for them to take part in. At the same time, parents could get information from 60 vendors.
Folks were also raising money by walking around the indoor track. Organizers hope above all, it raised awareness.
Nikki Johnson, President of Autism York says, “Children with Autism grow up to be adults with Autism, and  communities need to know and understand that they are just like everybody else and the acceptance.. the more you know about something, the more accepting you are, because I would bet to say that somebody knows somebody who knows somebody with Autism.”
More than 1200 people took part in the Autism York Walk.
Last year, it raised $78,000. This year’s goal was to exceed that.
All money raised stays local, to help Autistic children in York County.
