The warden at Dauphin County Prison reports the death of an inmate over the weekend.  The inmate, identified as 62 year old William Gurreri, stopped breathing at 10:23 am Saturday.  Prison medical staff performed emergency procedures, but Gurreri was unresponsive and eventually pronounced dead at 11:06 am.

Warden Dominick Rose says Gurreri, arrived  at the prison on April 17, 2013.  He was being held on charges of indirect criminal contempt and violation of probation and parole. Upon arrival at the prison, Gurreri was checked every 15 minutes for medical reasons.  An autopsy was performed Monday morning by the Dauphin County Coroner’s office.  However the exact cause of death is pending a toxicology report that could take several weeks.

Because the death happened at the prison, the Dauphin County Criminal Investigation Division was notified and is investigating.
