A power outage in Howe Township has resulted in a “Boil Water Advisory” for all Newport Borough Water Authority customers. The power outage affected the Howe Township wells, causing the standpipe to fall below 14 feet of water, compromising the requirements for the log 4 removal of viruses. The Newport Borough Water Authority says there is no break in the distribution piping and that the supply has not been contaminated.

The problem is being corrected but the advisory will likely remain in effect until Wednesday, April 24th.
