Harrisburg – At 10:30 a.m. this morning, PennDOT reopened westbound Route 22 over Interstate 81 at the I-81 Exit 67 interchange. Access is now also available to northbound I-81 from westbound Route 22 at the interchange.

I-81 still remains closed in both directions at the I-81 Exit 67 interchange just north of Harrisburg. Eastbound Route 22/322 also remains closed at the interchange.

PennDOT will continue to issue updates as the day progresses about the reopening of roads and the condition the bridges in the I-81 Exit 67 interchange.

A fiery tanker crash shortly after 6 a.m. today on the ramp from northbound Interstate 81 to westbound Route 22/322 has closed the bridges that carry Route 22/322 over I-81 and also both directions of I-81 that pass underneath those bridges. Route 22/322 and I-81 in the vicinity of I-81 Exit 67 will remain closed until further notice. PennDOT will be evaluating the structural integrity of the bridges that were affected by this morning’s fire and make a determination later today when I-81 and Route 22/322 can be reopened to traffic.
