A fiery tanker crash shortly after 6 a.m. today on the ramp from northbound Interstate 81 to westbound Route 22/322 has closed the bridges that carry Route 22/322 over I-81 and also both directions of I-81 that pass underneath those bridges. Route 22/322 and I-81 in the vicinity of I-81 Exit 67 will remain closed until further notice. PennDOT will be evaluating the structural integrity of the bridges that were affected by this morning’s fire and make a determination later today when I-81 and Route 22/322 can be reopened to traffic.

Currently, northbound traffic on I-81 is being detoured at Exit 59 onto eastbound Route 581, southbound traffic on I-81 is being detoured at Exit 70 for southbound I-83.

Eastbound traffic on Route 22/322 is stopped and detoured at Route 39 (Linglestown Road). Westbound traffic on Route 22/322 is stopped and detoured at Elmerton Avenue.
