…A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT TODAY FROM 10AM UNTIL 8PM FOR SNYDER, NORTHUMBERLAND, PERRY, DAUPHIN, AND CUMBERLAND COUNTIES…

BYE-BYE LOW:  The pesky upper level low responsible for the strong storms and hail on Wednesday is weakening as we speak while slowly pulling away from the state.  We’ll be on the southern fringe of this, so there’s still just enough energy aloft to allow for some showers or storms to develop later in the day with heat from the sunshine.  Expect fewer storms today.  However, showers may line up over the same spots for a few hours near the low, which could result in some flash flooding.  Stay alert.  Highs will make it to the low 70s with a west to northwesterly breeze.  We’ll clear and cool tonight into the 50s with areas of fog.

NEXT TWO:  A low pressure system will bring storms to us for Friday, followed by a potent cold front and dip in the jet stream for Saturday.  This will bring cooler air for the rest of the weekend.

Friday, expect a sunny beginning with cloud quickly filling in through the day.  We’ll warm into the upper 70s and it’ll feel a bit humid.   Scattered showers and storms can develop anytime after noon, but the best chances come later into the evening and overnight hours.  Some of the storms may tap into stronger winds aloft and bring strong to severe wind gusts.  There’s a very tiny risk for hail or tornadoes.  Stay alert for severe weather Friday.

Severe Weather Outlook

The second front comes through late Saturday.  We’re warm with scattered showers and storms during the day.  Highs hit the low 70s under mainly cloudy skies.  Showers taper overnight with gradual clearing Sunday.  It’ll be breezy and chilly with highs only in the middle 60s for Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day

CHILLY MAY DAYS:  We’re really cool to start the work week, beginning in the low 40s Monday and topping out near 60° despite plenty of sun.  Tuesday it’s just as chilly to start with slightly milder air.  By Wednesday, warmer air surges in form the south and we’re back to the middle 70s with stray storm possible.

Enjoy your Friday Eve!
