The Make-A-Wish Foundation holding its 24th annual Mother’s Day truck convoy and family festival. Hundreds of big rigs hit the road today to help make the wishes of sick children come true.

Nearly 310 wishes will be granted this year in the 10-county area the regional office serves. Eighty-seven percent of the money donated is used to help grant wishes.

Dennis Heron, CEO of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, had this to say about today’s event, “This event has woven into the fabric of the event the tradition of wish kids being involved in the wish from start to finish and it’s so heartwarming as the trucks go through the countryside to see everybody lining the streets and it’s been such a tradition.  It’s been such a shot in the arm for our chapter.”

The foundation raised $325,000 in 2012 and they are hoping today’s event exceed that amount.
