Person jumps out of window to escape fire in Newport

NEWPORT, PERRY COUNTY–A person was taking to the hospital early Tuesday morning after jumping out of a window to escape a fire in Perry County.  The fire was reported around 4:28 a.m. along the 400 block of Mulberry Street in Newport.

Dispatchers say one person jumped from the second-floor to escape the blaze.


No word on the victim’s condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
