(YORK, PA) – WPMT FOX43 continues to lead the way in local news, providing Central Pennsylvania with more hours of local news than any other local station. Starting August 5, 2013, Central Pennsylvania’s FOX station will debut FOX43 NEWS AT 4:00 and FOX43 NEWS AT 5:00. With two hours of local news starting at 4pm, this expansion will continue FOX43’s successful strategy of being viewers’ first choice for local news.

At 4:00pm, there is an un-fulfilled need for local news in the early evening. These two hours of local news will provide many residents with their first chance to get caught up after the workday.

“We have always been laser-focused on providing a reason and a viewer benefit when we schedule our newscasts,” points out FOX43 News Director David Silverstein. “From the launch of FOX43 NEWS AT 10:00, we have reached out to meet an audience that wants local news at non-traditional times. At FOX43, we don’t simply schedule newscasts at the age-old times of historical newscasts on other stations.”

“We like to give viewers choices,” adds FOX43 General Manager Bob Furlong. “With FOX43 NEWS AT 10:00, FOX43 MORNING NEWS from 4:00am to 9:00am, and now two new hours at 4:00pm and 5:00pm, we have a legacy commitment to providing all-local news when no other station can deliver it.”

With FOX43’s local news coverage starting at 4:00pm, on September 9 the 6:00pm hour will become two episodes of TWO AND A HALF MEN, followed by an hour of MODERN FAMILY at 7:00pm. Also on September 9, ARSENIO HALL will debut at 11:00pm, replacing FOX43’s half hour of late news at 11:00pm. FOX43 NEWS AT 10:00, the station’s flagship newscast, will be unaffected.

The August 5 premiere of two new newscasts only adds to FOX43’s already successful 2013, which began with the return of viewer-favorite anchor Heather Warner to FOX43 MORNING NEWS. FOX43 also recently introduced the Lancaster County Motors Subaru Mobile PMT, a state-of-the-art news vehicle outfitted with exterior cameras that bring viewers right to the action.
