Boy kicked by pony flown to Hershey Med

helicopterA 6 year old boy was kicked in the throat by a horse this morning on the 900 block of Peters Road in Earl Township. He was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center.

Police say the boy was playing in the pasture with other children when he approached a pony from behind that became startled and kicked him in the throat. The boy was unable to breath and required medical attention.

New Holland Ambulance and Ephrata Hospital Medic Unit provided emergency care to the boy until the helicopter arrived.

The male juvenile was visiting from out of the area.  His condition is unknown at this time.

    My family and I will pray for this boy! I have a 6 year old son and we moved onto a farm 3 months ago and these things scare me so much with all the children we have here and the hazzards of being around unpredictable animals. My heart goes out to your family.
