Boy dies after being kicked by pony in Lancaster County

A 6-year-old boy died Friday after being kicked in the throat by a pony in Lancaster County. The boy was playing in a pasture along the 900 block of Peters Road in Earl Township on Thursday when the incident occurred. Police say he approached the pony from behind when it became startled and kicked the boy in the throat.

He was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center where he later died.

Police say the boy was visiting and lived outside of the area.
