A standoff with an armed man inside a Lancaster City home has ended and the suspect is in police custody. The man was taken away in handcuffs just before 9 a.m.  after engaging in a standoff with police along the 600 block of South Queen Street.

Authorities were called to the home around 3:30 a.m.  for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived at the scene the suspect fired additional shots before barricading himself inside a home with a woman and children, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman.

The Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called in to assist Lancaster City police and nearby residents were evacuated, Stedman said.

No injuries have been reported.

Police have not released the identity of the suspect.
