A  Chambersburg man is behind bars charged with severely beating a 6 month old infant. Franklin County Children and Youth notified state police that the child had suffered numerous bone fractures to both legs, right arm and several ribs.  The child was transferred from the Chambersburg Hospital emergency room to Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

An examination by a pediatrician revealed fractures ranging from recent to various stages of healing that are consistent with child abuse. The abuse is estimated to have taken place over the last two to three months.

State police arrested and charged 21 year old Dustin Sipes, with Aggravated Assault and Simple Assault.  Sipes was a boyfriend of the child’s mother and assisted in caring for the child. After arraignment, Sipes was sent to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.  Police say their investigation in the case continues.
