Ephrata Police have filed charges of child endangerment and animal cruelty against three people for living in a mobile home with a 1 year-old child and over 80 animals. Police went to 883 East Main Street on April 3rd to check out a report that the residents were keeping a large number of animals in a mobile home at that address.

Police discovered over 80 wild and domestic animals living in the mobile home.  They say the animals were permitted to urinate and defecate throughout the residence creating an unsanitary condition and creating a hazard to the infant child as well as the other people living in the home.  Many of the animals were found to be in need of veterinary care.

The home was found to be uninhabitable and condemned.

Charges were brought against the following people:

1. William Lee Herman, 24, of 1313 Swatara St. Harrisburg. Endangering the Welfare of Children,One Count. Cruelty to Animals, 68 Counts.

2. Pearl Marie Herman, 24,  of 1313 Swatara St. Harrisburg, PA 17070. Endangering the Welfare of Children, One Count.

3. Robert Paul Herman Sr., 55, 883 E. Main St. Lot 23 Ephrata, PA 17522. Endangering the Welfare of Children, One Count. Cruelty to Animals, One Count.
