York –

Memorial Day is truly a day to honor the men and women in uniform who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  One serene spot in York gives visitors the chance to remember the fallen while reflecting on the qualities of our brave servicemen.  The Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden is that spot.  Today, people will have several opportunities to honor the fallen gold star gardenwhile raising money for a good cause.

The Gold Star Memorial 5k Run/Walk will kick off at 7:30 a.m. and raises money for the Gold Star Healing and Peace Garden.  Along with the Run/Walk, runners, walkers and bikers can also take part in a 9 mile “Tour of the Memorials” around York.  Each activity sets a person up for the perfect Memorial Day, with physical activity to start the day before moving forward with BBQ plans.
