MEMORIAL DAY:  Here’s to the long weekend, celebrating those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the U.S. Armed Forces so we can have this day with family and friends.  The weather will be wonderful today for all of the outdoor activities planned.  It’s a cool start to the day, but sunshine will dominate the skies early.  A few clouds roll in later in the day.  Highs will top out in the middle 70s with low humidity.  Enjoy the day.

WARM FRONT: By the time we reach mid-week, we’re talking very hot air….of the heat wave variety.  But before we get there, we have to watch the warm front pass.  It begins tonight with clouds thickening up.  Then, for your Tuesday, we’ll watch widely scattered showers develop.  Depending on the timing and quantity of these showers, we could see temps held down for a chunk of the day.  For now, we’re going with the thermometer reaching the low 70s at the very least.  The clouds and rain chances linger through the evening and early overnight hours.

Futurecast

HEAT WAVE:  A heat wave in our area is defined by three or more consecutive days with a temperature of at least 90°.  There a good shot that we will see a heat wave to close out the week.  Wednesday, a bubble of hot air pushes north.  We’re into the upper 80s with scattered clouds.  The humidity creeps in too.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we should touch the 90° and we may be a degree or two warmer.  We’re talking plenty of sunshine and humidity to go around with rain chances pretty much squashed by the high pressure bubble in place.

Heat Wave

NEXT SHOT:  By Sunday, the hot air bubble breaks down a bit as a cold front pushes eastbound.  This should drop us back into the 80s and introduce the chance for showers and thunderstorms back into the forecast.

Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day today.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!
