Toddler dies after falling into backyard pool in Berks County

A 20 month old  Berks County child dies in a Philadelphia hospital where he was taken after being pulled from a backyard pool over the weekend.  Spring Township Police confirmed the child died Monday at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia late Monday afternoon.

Police were called to a home in the 3000 block Regency Drive at around 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon.  When they arrived they found neighbors performing CPR on the child.  The officers took over performing CPR until medical crews arrived. The child was taken to Reading Hospital before being flown to Philadelphia.

The youngster had reportedly fallen into an above ground pool.  The name of the child was not released.
