Remember to stay cool during these hot days!

Busy schedules sometimes make us forget to take care of ourselves during the heat!  A few basic reminders can help you beat the heat and enjoy it too!  First, always remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.  Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages because they dehydrate the body.  Wear loose, light-colored clothing.  Light colors reflect the sun’s rays more than dark colors.  This keeps your body a bit cooler.  Avoid the sun during its peak hours of 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.  The rays are strongest at this time.  Save any outdoor chores for sunrise or sunset.  Sometimes it can’t be avoided.  Always take frequent breaks in the shade or in an air conditioned location if you must spend time outdoors during the hottest times of the day.  Don’t forget to check on children, pets, and the elderly.  Their bodies are more sensitive to the heat.  Incorporating these tips into our routines helps keep us safe until temperatures cool down.
