HOT, HOT, HOT:  We made it to 90° on Thursday, ending a 294 day stretch of sub 90° days.  Quite the accomplishment, right?  Well maybe not so exciting for those of you sweating it all out as of late!  We’re set to do it again today and maybe even once more Saturday before a cold front brings some heat and humidity relief.

Today, we’re mainly sunny, hazy, hot, and humid.  Highs will once again top out near 90° with the chance for one or two thunderstorms.  We’re looking at a mainly dry day however.  This evening, we cool from the 80s to the 70s.  It’s summer like weather so head outdoors and enjoy your back yard, your pool, or dinner on the deck.  Tonight, we drop to the upper 60s.  Saturday, we’re in the upper 80s to near 90° with some added clouds and a slightly better chance for a few storms.

Hour By Hour

HEAT TIPS: Remember, with the high heat you want to make sure you don’t overdo it these next two days.  Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and find some shade or air conditioning.  It’s best to get outdoor chores completed early morning or late evening, avoiding the most direct sun rays and hottest hours of the day from 10AM-3PM.  Don’t forget to keep an eye on the kids, pets, and elderly who often don’t tolerate heat as well.

COLD FRONT:  The jet stream will dip and begin to shove away this upper-level warm high pressure system by Sunday.  Expect a warm and muggy day with temps in the middle 80s as a cold front slowly advances toward the state.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop through the afternoon and evening hours.  Some of the storms could be strong to severe, so keep checking back with us for updates through the weekend.  The storms may continue overnight into early Monday.  However, cooler air will slide in with them.  Monday we’ll be back to the upper 70s for highs.  By Tuesday, we clear the skies and the seasonably warm and lower humidity air will be in place to guide us through the latter half of the week.

June Climate

BEACH:  If you’re heading to the shore this weekend, you picked a good one!  It’ll be a bit breezy with southerly winds both days.  However, sunshine will be abundant with highs in the low 80s to mid 70s from NJ to MD on Saturday.  We’re a bit cooler Sunday with a few more clouds and spotty showers or thunderstorms, especially north.  UV index is very high, so bring lots of sun block.  Water temps are cool, near 60°.

Happy Friday!  Make it a great one!
