The city of Lancaster has no shortage of places where you can sit down and have a cold beer, and now two new places are hoping to quench the city’s thirst for brews.
Craft beer is nothing new to Lancaster, but that was part of the draw for Andrew Neff, co-owner of the newly opened bar and retail shop, Hunger-N-Thirst at 920 Landis Avenue in Manheim Township.
Neff said he sees Lancaster’s already established beer scene, including places like The Fridge, Pour and Lancaster Brewing Company as a bonus.
“Part of the reason we really wanted to do this here versus a larger city is to build up a community to a larger level on a larger scale,” he said.
Tom Baldrige, Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce president, said that’s exactly what’s happening.
“It’s all part of the vibe that’s being created over the past 10 or so years and it’s really ramping up now even more so,” he said.
Hunger-N-Thirst isn’t the only player looking to tap in on Lancaster’s growing craft beer scene, the Federal Taphouse in the heart of downtown Lancaster is set to open on June 25th.
The bar, restaurant and music venue at 201 N. Queen Street will offer 101 draft beers when doors open. Co-owner Corey Fogarty said that will set it apart.
“100 beers puts you on a marker, it becomes a regional draw,” he said.
