Police in Lebanon recover a large wooden eagle sculpture and arrest the man they say is responsible for the theft. The carved eagle was stolen from storage in March of 2011 from a building in the area of 4th & the Railroad (former GE building). The sculpture was on display at HACC Lebanon, but renovations there required it to be put into storage. Thursday evening, a passerby spotted the eagle on the sidewalk in front of 17 North 10th Street. The passerby recognized the eagle and called police. When officers arrived, the eagle was no longer on the sidewalk.
After a little poking around, the eagle was spotted in the back yard of 17 North 10th Street. The victim of the Theft, Frank Dixon, responded to the scene and positively identified the eagle as the one reported stolen from him.
Police say Jean Correa-Andujar, 23, is being charged with the theft. Correa worked for a company that had access to where the eagle had been stored at 301 North 4th Street when the eagle was stolen. After being stolen the eagle had been kept at a residence across the street from 17 N 10th St. The eagle was in the process of being moved to the residence of Correa when it was observed by the passerby and was only in public view for a few minutes.
