TWO ROUNDS OF RAIN:  The nice days are behind us as we gear up for some soggy weather over the next two days.  A frontal system will bring batch one of rain today into tonight.  Batch two will be assisted by our tropical friend Andrea, which will be here Friday afternoon into Friday night.  The models are pumping out a good 1-2” of rain with some heavier pockets of 3” or so where any bands may set up.  Localized flooding is possible in a few spots.  Have the umbrellas handy!

Rain Estimates

TIMING IT ALL OUT:  We begin Thursday on a generally cloudy and dry note in the low 60s.  Showers enter the picture by midday, especially for our north and western counties.  Eventually, the rain overtakes the region by evening.  A few rumbles may be heard too.  Heavier rain looks to move in later tonight into the overnight hours.  Highs today should touch the low 70s.

Friday begins with scattered showers around the area.  Rain once again ramps up later in the day into the evening and overnight hours.  Heavier pockets will set up shop so do expect some good topical downpours thanks to some added tropical moisture from Andrea.  This should all taper up by about daybreak Saturday.  Highs Friday will reach the middle 70s.

WEEKEND:  As Andrea races northeastward into the north Atlantic, we’ll begin to dry on Saturday.  A wave will dip to our north and keep some clouds and isolated showers in the picture.  We look to remain warm though, with highs nearing 80°.  Sunday should be mainly dry and partly cloudy.  Highs will top out in the warm middle 80s.  So it looks as if we salvage a pretty decent, summer like weekend.

NEXT WEEK: Another storm system arrives Monday, bringing clouds, showers, and thunderstorms to the picture.  Models differ on when this thing exits, so we’re lingering showers and storms into Tuesday.   We should clear out a bit for the middle of the week as we await our next weather maker.  Highs are in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Stay dry and have a terrific Thursday!
