Lancaster’s Crystal park is looking to install some new art and is getting the public’s help to decide.
More than 70 artists from around the world submitted proposals for the project.
The field is narrowed down to two sculptures, “Another Joyous Occasion” by Denver, Co., stone carver Madeline Wiener, and “Changing Gears,” a work by Seattle sculptors Ulrich Pakker and Pamela Pakker Kozicki.
It’s all a part of $2 million in renovations to Crystal and Rodney Parks.
“We’re hoping to get neighbors involved and form like a stewardship of the park because this is going to be all of our parks,” said Erica Millner, a member of the parks’ Public Art Steering Committee. “I live right here and I would like to see all of my neighbors being directly related to the park, like, ‘We built this park, we had a say in the sculpture.'”
The city has a community meeting to get public input planned for Thursday, June 6th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rodney Park Community Center.
