The York City School Board voted unanimously this evening to keep the district in tact rather than go 100% chartered.

York School Board President, Margie Orr, says the board is all on the same page with moving the district forward.

Orr says the board believes chartered schools aren’t improving kids education in any way.

She says it’s a feeling of relief but at the same time, a lot of work is in the future.

“A weight lifted off and like I said it’s a lot of work ahead but we’re all up to the task we knew this early on that we were going to be moving in a different direction and I’m sure we can get it done, we can get it done,” says Margie Orr.

Orr plans on working towards trying to get chartered school students moved into city schools.
