Bomb found in fatal car crash

The bomb squad is called to the scene of a fatal car crash yesterday in West Hempfield Township.

Howard M. Holtzinger, 60, of Lancaster was driving slowly when he began to drift into the right lane. After slowly coming to a stop under the 462 bridge, a medical team tried to resuscitate Holtzinger by doing CPR and AED was administered. Ambulance of York transported Holtzinger to York Memorial where he was pronounced dead. Police also fireworks in his car. Authorities couldn’t identify an odd shaped bundle and sent for the state police bomb squad.. The Pa State police Hazardous Device & Explosives Section removed the device safely and were able to destroy it.
