Lancaster police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday on the 100 block of Nevin St.

Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots and a car crash. When officers arrived, they found a man shot inside a car.

The car had crashed into another car parked on the street.

Both police and people who live on the block said the whole thing is very unusual for the neighborhood, which is right by Franklin and Marshall College.

“We have a patrol zone here, but again, it’s usually just for loud parties and things regarding the university, right now, it’s pretty quiet in this area normally,” said Sgt. Gary McCrady of the Lancaster Police Department.

“I just bought a house here and it seems pretty safe and I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a couple of years, so it was pretty scary,” said Lindsey Tellez.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital. There is no word on his condition.
