Heavy rains move thru the Philadelphia area mid morning and suspends play at the U.S. Open for about  two and half hours.  First round play resumes around 11am with fans trudging thru the mud for the best views on Merion’s east course.

Over 20,000 people each day will be at the course.  Many of the early birds seek shelter when the storm rolls in but despite the delay, fans are happy to brave the conditions to see the world’s best golfers in action.
