Man shot in car in Harrisburg

A man sleeping in a car woke from his slumber early Friday to realize he was being assaulted by someone. The attacker then shot the victim several times. It happened around 1am on the 1900 block of State Street. The victim, described by police as a 30 year-old man from Hummelstown, said he was drinking and had a friend drive him to Harrisburg. His friend got out of the car and the victim decided to sleep in the car.

After being attacked and shot, the victim drove to safety. Police found the victim at the City Gas & Diesel store parking lot at North 16th and State Streets. He was in the parking lot next to his car and suffering from several gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment.  His wounds were not considered life threatening.

The officers checked on calls of a shooting in the area and located a probable scene in the 1700 block of Miller Street.
