U.S. Marshals capture an out of state sex offender in York City.  45 year old John Phillips was convicted in March 2004 of rape in Barnstable, Massachusetts.  Because of his conviction under Megan’s Law Phillips is required to register as a sex offender.  In February 2013, he registered an address in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.   In March 2013, authorities learned that he no longer lived there. The U.S. Marshals Service was asked to assist in finding Phillips.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located Phillips at a home in the 400 block of Park Street in York City.  The investigation revealed that he had been living there for months.  This morning, Deputy U.S. Marshals assisted by city police, deputy sheriffs and officers with the district attorney’s office converged on the address and took Phillips into custody without incident.

Phillips is being detained in Dauphin County by the U.S. Marshals Service after his arraignment for failing to register as a convicted sex offender.
