One person was killed and another injured early Sunday morning in a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver on Route 322 in Dauphin County. It happened around 5:10 a.m. on the eastbound lanes just west of the Fishing Creek Valley Road exit in Middle Paxton Township.

The wrong-way driver was flown to Hershey Medical center for treatment. There’s no word yet on their condition.

The unidentified driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police say alcohol may have been involved in the crash.

Route 322 eastbound traffic is being detoured at the 11/15 exit in Perry County. Westbound traffic is not affected.

Seems like we need railroad-like arms across exit ramps that will not go up if you try to enter a highway on the exit ramp. So many wrong-way highway crashes each year in the Susquehanna Valley. Sometimes by drunks and sometimes by the elderly.
