Civil War history is also being marked in Harrisburg today with a dedication for the Bethel A.M.E. Heritage Trail.
It was held at the soldiers grove right behind the state capital. The celebration is called “Freedom Jubilee” and it opens the self-guided walking tour through five locations where the Bethel A.M.E. Church once stood. The pathway also honors the service of the African-American Patriots of the Civil War who at the time volunteered to join the union army.
