A Spring Grove man died in a fiery crash when his pickup truck crashed and burst into flames early Sunday morning in York County. It happened around 3 a.m. along the 2700 block of West Market Street in West Manchester Township.

Robert E. Thompson Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the York County coroner’s office.

Thompson’s Ford Ranger burst into flames on impact and was totally engulfed by the time firefighters arrived, said York County Deputy Coroner Terry L. Meyers. Thompson was thrown from the truck and found underneath the driver’s side, Myers said.

West Manchester Township police are investigating.

No autopsy is planned.
