A bear sighting and capture in Cumberland County.  It began about 12:09 Wednesday afternoon when a bear was sighted in the 200 block of Deerfield Road in the Allendale Development of Lower Allen Township.  Police with the assistance of neighbors in the area eventually located a young, male black bear.

Pennsylvania Game Commission officers responded to the scene and along with police and fire police followed the bear through several neighborhoods.  Unable to cross Interstate 83 because of traffic, the bear climbed a tree at the corner of Shoreham Road and I-83.  Game Commission officers tranquilized the bear and he was safely removed from the tree. The bear was taken to another less populated area and released.
