People helped raise money Thursday evening for a York High School coach who’s battling cancer.

Toney Jones is a popular track coach who was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer.

He and his wife have had a hard time paying for the medical expense of his treatment so a group of close friends took it upon themselves to help fundraise.

Tyler Brown Photography offered pictures to people at Sovereign Bank Stadium during the July 4th celebration for 10 dollars a piece.

Toney says  it means the world to him to see people he doesn’t even know help him out.

“You just don’t know who it’s going to hit you think this can’t happen to me and that’s what I thought and it happens you just gotta be real about everything and hope you can help somebody else it’s all about helping somebody that you don’t even know sometimes,” says Toney Jones.

Toney has two more chemotherapy treatments to go, and then he says his doctor will reassess his plan of action.
