Lancaster community members held a prayer vigil Monday night in downtown.
They were there to remember a homeless man who officers shot to death last month.
Police stopped Gregory Bayne on June 10th for public urination. He pulled out a knife and lunged at officers, that’s when one of the shot him.
The District Attorney reviewed the incident and say that the cops involved did act appropriately.
Organizers of the vigil say the goal is to remember Bayne and raise awareness about homelessness.
“We mourn Greg’s death, we mourn homelessness and marginalized population in this city of Lancaster and around the world, ” says Lancaster resident Audrie Marsh. “We also want people to know, although the district attorney felt the action of the police were justified we still did lose a member of our community.”
It marks the one month anniversary of Bayne’s death.
